Forest Road Coordination in the MFRC Northeast Landscape

The coordination working group, which is part of the Northeast Regional Landscape, has started a project aimed at collecting forest road GIS data over multiple ownerships.  It involves public and private forest managers sharing their forest road GIS data, and having it combined into one data layer that can be used in forest planning over multiple ownerships.

NORTHEAST LANDSCAPE

• Initial proposal and plan to collect forest road GIS data for all of Northeast Minnesota (Carlton, Cook, Lake, and St.Louis).

• Timeline for tasks (progress report).

• Detailed explanation of GIS data to being created (metadata).

• A table listing all the variables (attributes) that are being gathered.

• Conversion process used before merging data (Blandin, DNR, Lake County Land Department, St.Louis County Land Department, and Forest Service forest road data).
