Purpose	The Forest Plan guides all natural resource management activities for the Chippewa National Forest. It describes resource management practices, levels of resource production and management, and the availability and suitability of lands for resource management. The Plan embodies the provisions of the National Forest Management Act, its regulations, and other guiding documents. The assignment of Management Areas, prescriptions, and standards and guidelines are a statement of the Plan’s management direction. However, the projected outputs, services, and rates of implementation are dependent on the annual budgeting process.

Maintenance and Update Frequency	National Forest plans are revised on a 10-15 year cycle. The Chippewa Forest Plan is currently under revision, with an intended completion date of 2000. The Notice of Intent for the revision process will be issued in August, 1997.
