Purpose	The plan describes a course of action designed to benefit society and promote resource stewardship. It is intended to: 1) provide a brief description of Lake County’s forest resources, its extent, condition, and potential for development; 2) draw together, in one document, inventory data, management goals and objectives, and a recommended management program that addresses county-administered tax-forfeited lands and their resources; 3) establish strategy, guidelines, and long-term policy direction within which more detailed or site specific plans can be developed; 4) help identify needs, issues, and opportunities associated with tax-forfeited forest land ownership and natural resource development; 5) establish guidelines and criteria to assist in tax-forfeited land retention and disposal decisions; 6) provide a basis for improved coordination with other government units and resource managing agencies; 7) provide a means of involving other disciplines, agencies, interest groups, and the public in decisions relating to the future use of county forests; 8) promote continuity of management efforts in the event of changes in personnel, politics, or operating conditions.
