Basic Summary:
In November 1997 the Minnesota
Forest Resources Council established the landscape, "regional committee
process", program. The goal of this program is to foster landscape-level
planning and coordination processes among citizens (Sustainable
Forest Resources Act Section 89A.06). For more information on
the landscape
program visit the Forest Resources Council Internet site.
The state has been divided into eight landscapes: Northeast, Northern, North Central, West Central, East Central, Metro, Southeast, and Prairie (look at map).

The following pages contain a wide variety of information both spatial and non spatial for the different lanscapes. The catagories this information fall under are: cultural, economic, and ecological.
As of summer of 2000 the landscape program has been implemented on the Northeast landscape, and is beginning in the North Central landscape. Also, a draft assessment has been completed for the Southest landscape.
